On the occasion of WORLD CANCER DAY today, Punjab National Bank has come out in support of the Child Education Sponsorship programme being run by a nationwide NGO, Global Cancer Concern India. Under this programme GCCI adopts children from cancer victimised families to prevent them from dropping out of school due to the cancer burden on the family. Once adopted, these children receive support till completion of their senior secondary education.
In a function held at the PNB House in Chandigarh, the Circle Head of the Bank, Ms Kalpana Gupta handed over a cheque of Rs 36000, to the Deputy Director of the NGO Mr Vineet Marwaha. Some of the adopted children were also present on the occasion alongwith their parents. The current grant would help to cover the expenses of 24 children for this quarter. Guest of Honour Dr BD Gupta, Professor Emeritus and retd. HOD. Deptt of Radiotherapy and Oncology, PGI, lauded the efforts of Global Cancer Concern India in this direction and appreciated the role of PNB in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.
