The India Post, Chandigarh, 14th February, 2009 : Cancer Survivor’s and International Childhood Cancer Day was celebrated on 14th February in St. Stephan’s School. Mrs. Jean Rodrigues, the gracious first lady of Chandigarh and Punjab presided over the function. Mrs. Raji P Shrivastva, Special Secretary Finance, Chandigarh Administration also came to attend the function. Cancer survivors began the function with prayer to the Almighty for strength and vigour to follow the path of righteousness.
The little angels from APC danced to a remix choreographed by Varsha lightening the somber mood. Inspite of their illness the performance was extra ordinary. Comedy act written especially for the occasion by Dr Rani Balbir Kaur was enacted by Ajay Verma and Emmanuel, students of Dept of Indian Theatre Punjab university.
Mrs Jean Rodrigues in her address lauded the efforts of Sahayta Volunteers and congratulated them for making laughter the theme of celebrations. Mrs. Raji P Sharivastva also complimented the Sahayta team for the wonderful work been done by them.
The function concluded with re-affirmation by all Sahayta Volunteers- Hum Honge Kamyab Ek Din.
