7 Feb :A blood donation camp was organized by HQ Delhi Area at Base Hospital Delhi Cantt today. The camp was conducted by team of one Officer, one Junior Commissioned Officer and 12 Blood Transfusion Agency’s from the Armed forces Transfusion Centre, Delhi Cantt which is the largest blood bank of the Indian Army and a premier institute in the field of Transfusion Medicine catering to the blood requirement of entitled service and ex-service personnel and their families admitted at Army Hospital (R&R) and Base Hospital Delhi Cantt alongwith a team of Doctors and technicians from Rotary Blood Bank, New Delhi.
The camp was inaugurated By Mrs Vandana Oberoi, President AWWA, Delhi Area. The response at the blood donation camp was overwhelming and 16 (sixteen) Officers and 274 (two hundred and seventy four ) jawans from the various units of Delhi Area donated blood during the camp resulting in a total collection of 290 units of blood. The meticulous arrangements and excellent support given for the blood donation camp by Base Hospital Delhi Cantt was commendable. The blood donated during the camp will be used for ailing members of the Armed Forces and their families after component separation. The motivation and enthusiasm shown by the blood donors at the camp augers well for the cause of voluntary blood donation.
