Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh, Sept. 30 : Ustad Haji Aslam Saabri a renowned Qawwali maestro of Andehta ghrana presented qawwalis on Sufiana theme on the fifth day of ongoing World Tourism week celebrations, being organised by Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with Dare Club at the Rock Garden today.The chief guest of the evening was Sh.M.P.Singh, Secretary to Governor. Also present were the Home Secretary, Sh.Ram Niwas , IG UT, Chief Architect, MD CITCO, Director Tourism and other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration.
The fineness of feeling and emotional ex-pression, richness of lyrical content and melody of music compositions and mellifluous voice of accomplished vocalist Aslam Sabri coalesced to light up concert veritably titled “Sham-e-qawwali “ today.With the muglai theme set up on the stage and beautifully illuminated venue, the ambiance gelled very well the evening.
Aslam Saabri presented qawwali’s from sung by him for over a dozen films and many more. Accompanied by ten musicians and vocal support singers he opened the programme with a classic composer Chhap tilak sab cheeni ray mosay naina milaikay, by legendary Amir Khusroo.Then he moved to romanticism with his next offering “Jaane Gazal” .Thereafter he sang gazal like : “Krun aake ro raha hai mohammad ke shahar main, Har dard ki Dawa hai Mohammad ke shahar main, “Tu kisi or ki jaagir hai jaane Ghazal, Log Tuffan Utha denge mere Sath Na Chal”,“Tujhe Pyaar karte karte, meri umr beet jaye, ye kasak dil ki dil main chubhi rah gayi, zindagi me tumhari kami rah gay”on the request of the audience.
Haji Aslam Sabri is one of the foremost representatives of a legendary musical evening and torchbearer of the esteemed Ustad Sufi Abdul Subhan Sabri & Ustad Ghafoor Shakoor Sabri, which is 100 years old. He is internationally recognized as on of the greatest Qawwal. Haji Aslam Sabri well has known Sufi Qawwal in many languages i.e. Persian, Urdu, Brij & Punjabi Also. Haji Aslam Sabri Top Graded artist in all India Radio New Delhi since 1980. Aslam Sabri is a singer, Composer & Poet of Sufiana Kalam. Having emerged as a child prodigy, Aslam Sabri gave his first public performance at theage of seven. His international debut was at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, England when he was only 19. At 21, he made history by becoming youngest soloist to perform at one of the most prestigious international music festivals held in London, known as the Indian All Night concert at the Proms. Since then he has performed in over 40 nations that include performances in various music festivals and conferences throughout India, Europe, the Middle East, Russia the Far East & North America.
