Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister was presented a draft of Rs.1.75 crore as final instalment of Rs. 4.00 crore contribution being made by Ambuja Cements Ltd. towards construction of synthetic athletic track at Dharamshala. Shri J.C.Toshniwal, Business Head, Shri Chanchal Kumar, Unit Head and Shri Dinesh Sharma, General Manager, Ambuja Cements Ltd. presented the draft to the Chief Minister here today.
Chief Minister thanked Ambuja Cements Management for their generosity shown by them in creation of world class sports infrastructure to train budding sportspersons for national and international level competitions in athletics. He said that contribution of cement companies in creation of quality sports infrastructure was a good example of corporate social responsibility being shared by business houses. He said that pro-active participation of the corporate sector was a welcome gesture which would go a long way in winning trust of local people who had been cooperating in making their ventures run successfully. He said that State Government was laying two synthetic athletic tracks at Dharamshala and Hamirpur in providing partial financial assistance by cement companies in the State.
Prof. Dhumal said that there was no dearth of talented sportsperson in the State who needed to be provided world class sports infrastructure for training purposes so that they could excel in sports and earn laurels to the nation in general and state in particular. He said that Himachal Pradesh was emerging a choicest destination for organization of national and international sports events and quality infrastructure would add to sports activities in a bigger way. He appealed to the Corporate houses to come forward in fulfilling their Corporate Social Responsibilities in a dignified manner so that Himachal Pradesh could gain new heights in sports sector as well.
