DR. Avnish Jolly ,Chandigarh, March 20 :The Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula, has introduced an age-old and highly efficacious ayurveda therapy named Navarakizhi at its Ayurveda Centre.
“Navarakizhi is a special form of treatment widely practised in Kerala, which involves massage of the whole body with heated herbs and medicinal oils tied in cloth bags to massage the whole body and the treatment lasts 7-14 days, depending on the specific needs of the patient,” said Dr V R Vivekananda, Head Consultant, Ayurveda Centre at Alchemist Hospital.
“It is a highly effective rejuvenation technique using a special type of rice that is cooked, tied into boluses and dipped into an herbal decoction and warm milk, then skillfully massaged simultaneously by four therapists all over the body for one hour,” explained Dr Vivekananda.
The Alchemist Hospital’s ayurveda wing has introduced this therapy during its ‘Arthritis Week’ that will go on till March 21. This special therapy in addition with other therapies will be offered for specialized treatment for a number of ailments like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, back pain, lumbar spondylosis, cervical spondylosis, psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis, frozen shoulder, joint swellings, joint pains and sciatica.
