The India Post, Chandigarh, 22nd October,2008 :To create awareness regarding Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDDs), National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme, Health Department would organize exhibition-cum-awareness camp on October 23 at four different places in Chandigarh. The places include ISBT, Sector 43, ISBT, Sector 17, Grain Market, Sector 26 and Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26.
The exhibition at ISBT, Sector 43 will be inaugurated by the Director Public Relations, Chandigarh, Mr. R.S. Verma and Director Health Services, Chandigarh, Dr. Manjit Singh Bains. Printed material, charts, banners will be given to people visiting the exhibition to increase awareness regarding consumption of iodized salt. Iodine Deficiency as presented by ‘Goitre’ has prevalence rate of 14.2 in Chandigarh which labels the area as endemic.
