Jaipur, 29th Dec: After great success of first and second JIFF in last two consecutive years, JIFF received 600 entries from 67 countries, out of which 140 films including Short fiction, Documentary, Animation and Feature movies have been selected for screening at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Film Bhawan Auditoria and city’s selected cinema halls during four days of events. This year also India’s 1st Red Carpet based Jaipur International Film Festival-2011 representing 67 countries across the world with at least 300 film makers will enthrall the Pink City from January 27-30, 2011.
This 4 days events would have various categories of panorama; “World wood-International” for international competition and film screening, “Indian Panorama” for country’s talented film makers, “Coming Stars” for student film makers, and “U-Turn Rajasthan” for the state film makers, he said.
Yesterday during a press conference, JIFF Founder Director and organizer Hanu Roj said, “While selecting the entries, Jury of each selection committee has considered topicality of the subject, its technique and quality in film making besides keeping international standards of selection procedure in mind.”
“Out of 143 selected entries, 58 are from foreign nations, 71 from the home country and 12 from the state itself. This blog covers 64 short, 24 documentaries, 14 animation, and 41 feature films. This covers both 113 competitive and 30 non-competitive participants. The main focus would be on “French Cinema” as there are 60 entries from France, and a number of French film makers would also be attending the festival events,” he added.
“Among the 300 film makers who have given their consent to attend the festival includes Oscar winner Batington Burman, Smile Pinki with her/his team, and big shots from Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, UAE, USA, Canada, Bangladesh, and England, Australia, Italy etc. For the first time a 35 mm film’s projection facility would be introduced for the entries in the JIFF season,” he said.
Roj further added that, “Other than 140 selected films, about 65 other film entries which could not succeeded for final selection would be put on “Computer Desktop Screening” at the sponsored venue. JIFF’s standard can be evaluated with a simple yard stick that a movie titled “Karna Mocham” and “Garud” which were judged as the best short film and the best cinematography award in last JIFF has got the national awards.”
From 27th January, 2011, this JIFF award would be presented at a special “Red Carpet Award Ceremony” ceremony at a gala function to mark by film dignitaries and winners in all categories.
