Health Department U.T. Chandigarh observed the Sub National Immunization Day for Pulse Polio on 4th Nov.2012. The commitment to make India Polio free is going to be carried forward by initiating the Campaign of 2 days – House to House activity. Director Health and Family Welfare along with District Immunization Officer launched the Pulse Polio campaign here by administrating the Polio drops to children and by motivating the teams to undertake this National cause in letter and spirit.
During the first day of pulse polio campaign 50681 children up to five year of age from high risk areas, received Polio drops – door to door and at different locations like railway stations, ISBT`s, public places including major Temples, Parks and Gurdwaras. Workers of Health Department, Social Welfare Department, NSS volunteers and local volunteers from the city were deployed for administering the Polio vaccine to children from 0-5 year age. Chandigarh has always been a pioneer in Pulse Polio Immunization Programme, and parents are requested to co-operate for getting their children up to five years of age immunized by the teams on 2nd day of house to house visit.
