Chandigarh, Feb 27 – Doctors of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak have succeeded in removing a tumour weighing 22 kgs from the ovary of a 45-year old female thus giving her a new lease of life and setting a new record for the prestigious institute in Haryana.
While stating this today, the Director of the Institute, Dr Chand Singh Dhull said that the patient namely Mrs Suresh had visited the OPD of Gynaecologist Dr Savita Rani Singhal with the complaint of pain in her abdomen, which was swollen. The reports of the ultrasound and CT scan revealed that there was a tumour in her ovary. Therefore, the surgery conducted on her abdomen by team led by Dr Savita led to the removal of the 22 kgs tumour which surprised everybody. She had been suffering from pain in her abdomen for the last six years and the size of abdomen had increased considerably during last three months.
The Vice Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Dr S.S. Sangwan and Director of the Institute, Dr Dhull have complemented the Gynaecologist and the doctors of the Anesthesia Department for this successful surgery. They said that although many such operations have so far been conducted at the institute yet it was for the first time that such a heavy tumour had been taken out of the ovary of a patient. The husband of the patient Mr Rishi thanked the doctors for saving the life of his wife who is mother of four children.
The team of the doctors, which conducted the surgery under the guidance of Dr Savita included Dr Anjali Gupta, Dr Zani, Dr Parshant Kumar, Dr Tarandeep and staff nurse Shakuntala.
