Ankur Vadhera, Chandigarh : Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Head, Department of Cardiology PGIMER inaugurated the plantation of 200 plants in the Advanced Cardiac Centre of PGI under the support and guidance of Department of Horticulture PGI. Sh. Rakesh Sharma, an Advocate from Kharar donated these plants to PGI as part of his tree plantation campaign started 6 years back. Sh. Ajay Pandey DIG Punjab Police also joined in the campaign. Plants of Ficus benjamina, Araucaria, Varigated Chandani, Gulmohar, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Hamelia patens and Chandni were planted in the Advanced Cardiac Centre. Plants of Reetha, Bael, Harar, Hibiscus having medicinal values were also planted.
Dr. Yashpal Sharma stressed the need to plant more trees having medicinal values, which would be helpful in curing the patients and making environment human friendly. Sh. Hem Raj Singh, SDO Horticulture told that the department had recently planted 1000 trees in the Institute. Sh. Tajinder Singh and Sh. Sarbjit Singh JE Horticulture were also present. Sh. Rakesh Sharma said he had already planted about 8000 trees at various places like Golden Temple Complex, Amritsar, Dargah Manakpur Sharif, Govt. College for Men, Chandigarh, Various cremation grounds, Central Jail, Patiala & Ropar, B.S.F. Complex Lakhnaur.
