Panchkula, July 26: The British School, Panchkula in association with RB Creations organized a mega dance competition, ‘Dance War-09’ heat is on ‘A Tribute to Michael Jackson’ at the Open Air Theatre of Yavnika, Sector 5, Panchkula here today. Mr K. K. Khandelwal, IAS, Additional Principal Secretary to The Chief Minister, Haryana was the chief guest. Over 52 contestants, including small kids, participated in the event.
The performances were judged by a battery of experienced and eminent Judges, including Mrs Urmila Sethi, Director-Principal, The British School, Panchkula, who has over 35 years experience in dance teaching; Miss Rohini, Classical Dance instructor, Pracheen Kala Kendra, and Ms Elena Litvinova, Russian Dance Expert, who is also an international guest faculty at The British School, Panchkula.
The contest, first of its kind in tricity was based on the themes of Western, Folk and Classical Dances. Around 35 contestants gave Solo performances, while 7 presented Duet and 10 contested in a group dance category. Besides this, special performances were given by the dance troupe of RB Creations.
Ms Geetika Sethi, Director, The British School, Sec 8, Panchkula said, “Our aim to organise such events is to discover and encourage outstanding talent among young children.” There were three categories for solo: below 8 years, 9 to 15 years, 16 years onwards and two categories for duet and group: below 12 years and above 12 years.
Mr Sanjay Sethi, Director, The British School said that USP of the competition was a slide show on the life history of Michael Jackson. The competition was open to general public. The A-One Jolly Sound presented the light and sound show. The time for solo category was 3 minutes and for Duet & Group Category 5 Minutes.
Solo performance appreciated by all: Onkar, Shhavi, Khushboo, Namisha, Ashmin, Jaideep, Rouble, Chitranshu, Avantika and Dishant.
