Chandigarh, Saturday, Nov 22nd, 2014,Kulbir Singh Kalsi : The maiden Youth Premier League (YPL) for cricketers in the 14-25 years age category will be played at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula and the Sector 16 Cricket Ground from November 24 to 28 with eight franchisee cricket teams from various parts of the country vying for the winners prize of Rs 3 lakh and the runners up prize of Rs 1.5 lakh. Sharing this information with the media here on Saturday, YPL chairman B.S. Bedi said the participating teams are Delhi Dragons, Haryana Heroes, Punjab Panthers, Rewa Tigers, Mumbai Masters, Rajasthan Riders, Uttar Pradesh Warriors and Gujarat Lions. It will be a 20-overs a side limited overs tournament. DD Sports will telecast all matches live, except the first two on the opening day, which are going to be played at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula. From the second day, the venue will shift to the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium Chandigarh. Apart from the winners and runners up pay cheques, many other prizes are to be won. Man of the Series gets a bike and man of the match in every match a mobile handset. The RD Sports Club Maximum Sixes prize carries a tablet, so does the orange hat for the highest run-getter and the purple hat for the highest wicket-taker. Bedi said all players will get a full cricket kit each. They will be put up in hotels and provided quality food and refreshments.
