Saina Nehwal took 40 minutes to dispose of the challenge of second seeded Pusarla Venkata Sindhu in straight games 21-14 21-17 in the women’s singles final.
Unleashing 15 consecutive points, including nine in the second game, Song Xue changed the complexion of the game as he defeated Indian National champion Kidambi Srikanth, seeded sixth, by 16-21, 21-19, 21-13 in the men’s singles final which lasted 38 minutes.
Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad, was able to narrow the lead to 11-14. However, Saina clinched the game at 21-14.
Trailing 0-4 in the second game, Without a medal in the last 15 months, Saina hit back with vengeance and levelled the score to 5-5 and systematically increased the lead to 19-13 before wrapping up the game at 21-17. The final lasted 40 minutes.
