Ms. Nandita Krishnan, President, Rotary Club of Madras said, “The Rotary Club of Madras is the Premium Club in South India and is the 3rd oldest Club in India. For the last 83 years our Club has been doing various community service projects to benefit the less fortunate people of our society. The projects range from Vocational Service Training, Health Clinics, Educational Scholarships, Providing better facilities for municipal school children, Senior Citizen’s home etc.
She added, substantial funds are required each year for this and our club organizes many fund raising events to support the projects. In this tournament, we not only raise funds for our own projects, but also designate a third party charitable organization as recipient of a portion of the proceeds. This year the third party will be Adult Women Literacy Programme for the women in the slums and villages around Gummudupoondi where we run the Boys Town Society. In this manner the Corporates and participants know that they too have made a CSR contribution and not just played golf. Hence our tag line ‘SWINGS FOR A CAUSE’. This feature will continue.
