Jalandhar Dec. 28 :The Punjab Sports Department today honored members of Sikh Temple Football Club, Vancouver (Canada) at an impressive function in Hotel Dolphin here.
Punjab Sports Department Padma Shree Pargat Singh felicitated the team members and expressed his views that such competitions would inspire the local players who get international exposure. The Canadian team is on tour of India and are scheduled to play 12 matches all over the country from December 9 to 29.
Those honored were: Sukhpal Sandhu (head coach), Jagjit Hans (manager), Harpreet Samra, Gursimran Singh, Amardeep Hans, Arshdeep Sidhu, Aman Singh Grewal, Sukhjit Dhaliwal, Jeevan singh Sandhu, Justin Sekhin, Kevan Nagra, Gurmail Dosanjh, Bevan Sahota, Sunny Ball, Jashandeep Dhesi, Sandeep Sandhu, Amar Lidhar and Tevan Sandhu.
Coach Sukhpal Sandhu said that his players got excellent experience. "We have also learnt many things during our 21- day tournament at different places in India," said Sukhpal. He also promised that in future exchange of tournament would be continued and some coaching clinics would also be arranged in Punjab so that latest knowledge about new techniques may be shared.
Olympian Pargat Singh said "this type of experience will definitely be fruitful and provide more exposer to the budding players and appreciated the efforts of Sukhpal Sandhu and Jagjit Hans.
