23 Jul, 2008:Chinese officials have identified three city parks in Beijing where peaceful protests will be allowed during the Olympic Games.BOCOG officials said today protest groups will need a permit to stage any form of demonstration.
The President of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) John Coates recommended the move after SOCOG reached a similar agreement with Indigenous Australians prior to the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Coates said today BOCOG’s decision “was a common sense solution”.The AOC President had suggested the idea to the Chinese Ambassador to Australia
