The Indians players have mixed fortunes in the $ 15,000 ITF Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament in Libreville (Gabon) today.
Second seeded and Indian Davis Cupper Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan stormed into the singles semi-final, fifth seeded Indian Vishnu Vardhan gave a tough time to fourth seeded Sam Barry of Ireland before going down in three closely-contested quarter-final match.
Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan put his stamp of authority on the quarter-final match against Matias Castro of Argentina whom he beat in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
Vishnu Vardhan started fine by recording a hard-fought 7-6 (4) victory in tie-breaker of the first set. However, fourth seeded Sam Barry was fluent in winning the second set at 6-2. Vishnu Vardhan tried brilliantly but in vain in the third and deciding set as the Ireland player just managed to win by 7-5
