INDORE, NOV 18 : N. Vijay Sundar Prashanth of India prevailed over fourth seeded German Torsten Wietoska in straight sets 6-3 7-6(6) in the singles first round in the $ 15,000 ITF Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament here today.
In the absence of Yuvi Bhambri, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan was the highest ranked player and got top seedings. In the his first round Jeevan ousted Arjun Kadhe in straight sets 6-4,6-3.
The match between Indian Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash and Luca Margaroli Switzerland was the most thrilling and well-contested one. The fierce battle could be gauzed by the scoresheet. The first two sets were decided in the tie-breaker. The third and final deciding set also was equally tough and well-matched. Mohit just managed to pip his rival by 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 7-5.
Abdullah Shaikh rallied to snuff out the challenge of Ashwin Vijayragavan in three sets 3-6 6-4 6-2 .
Akash Wagh showed the exit door to Duck Hee Lee of Korea in straight set 6-2, 6-4.
