JALANDHAR, OCT 6 : Jalandhar claimed the hockey trophy by beating Bathinda by 3-2 in the final of the Punjab State Women Festival at Government Rajindra College in Bhatinda . It was after a gap of five years that Jalandhar regained the trophy.
The Jalandhar team comprising of all 16 players from Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women displayed brilliant hockey. In the first match Jalandhar beat Fatehgarh Sahib by 5-1, In quarter-finals Jalandhar girls beat Kapurthala by 7-1, In semi-finals they beat last year’s champions Amritsar by 4-0. In the final the Jalandhar girls combined well and were leading by 3-0 at the half time. For Jalandhar Gurjit Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur and Navjit Kaur scored. For Bhatinda Navjot Kaur and Kulwinder Kaur were the goal-getters.
