CHANDIGARH, JULY 19 : The Ad Hoc Committee Boxing Indian Olympic Association chairman Tarlochan Singh today informed the the Indian men’s boxing team has arrived in Glasgow for participation in the Commonwealth Games 2014 from July 23 to August 3.
The women boxers also left for Glasgow with star boxers L.Devendro Singh (49kg), Shiva Thapa (56 kg), Manoj Kumar (64 kg), Mandeep Jangra (69 kg), Vijender Singh (75 kg), Sumit Sangwan (81 kg), Amreetpreet Singh (91 kg), Parveen Kumar(+91 kg), G,S,Sandhu (National Chief Coach), B.I.Ferandez (Cuban Coach), Jaydev Bisht (Coach), C.A.Kuttappa (Coach), Dr. Gagan (Team Doctor), Dr. Gaurav Ahluwalia (Team Phyiso).
The women boxers to compete are Pinki Jangra (51kg), L.Sarita Devi (60 kg), Pooja Rani (75 kg), Ms. Hemlata (coach) and Mr Romen Romero Darke (foreign coach Cuba).
Tarlochan Singh further revealed that after intervene by Indian Olympic Association, the world apex body of boxing allowed the Indian squad to wear Indian Tri-Colour, the National Flag and National Anthem at the podium during the Games. It is good gesture for Indian boxing team and it will boost the moral of the Indian boxers and the coaches.
