By Jagpreet Sandhu ,Chandigarh, January 12 : “I may be playing a game that does not has much popularity in our country likewise cricket but I still believe that my respect and passion towards this game will surely boost me to fulfill my dream of representing my nation one day ” , says a talented young player of Handball from Chandigarh , Manavpreet Singh Bawa.
In a cricket-maniac country like India parents wish for their children to become like great Sachin or Dhoni one day, but Manavpreet’s father Mr. Ravinder Singh aspires his son to become a great player of handball with ingredients of true sportsman ship.
Manavpreet the local player of the city studies in class 12th at DAV Senior Secondary School , Chandigarh. He was the part of Under – 19 Chandigarh Hanadball team which won the Gold Medal in the 57th National School Games beating teams from all over India, held at Chandigarh.
Manavpreet started playing handball when he was just 5 years old. His father stood with him as his mentor & being the coach of Handball of Chandigarh Association he always encouraged him for playing handball and taught him like his student . Presently studying at DAV Senior Secondary School , sector 8 , Chandigarh, Manavpreet says, the teachers and Principal of the school Mrs. Vibha Ray has also been very supporting in studies as well as part for my participation in sports. The Chandigarh Hanball Association has been also providing the best facilities for the players of Chandigarh whether it is of providing kits for the tournament or any other support needed to achieve the best results, he added.
Talking about the game, the Chandigarh Handball Administration Coach Mr. Ravinder Singh said that Handball is the second fastest game of the world . It not only provides physical fitness to a player but also wide number of scopes as a career opportunity in sectors of Defence, Railways, & many other organizations.
With hard work & dedication Manavpreet believes to aquire his dream of representing his Nation & earn Gold for his country as well.
