CHANDIGARH, OCT 2 : Reliance-I, Canara Bank from Pool-A, Baroda C.A. and State Bank of Mysore from Pool-B, PCC Mohali and MPCA from Pool-C and CAG Delhi and Air India from Pool-D qualified for quarter-finals of the 20th All India J.P. Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament today.
Despite defeating MRF Chennai by 94 runs, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation made their exit from the tournament. Winning the toss MRF opted to field at St. John’s School in Sector 26 in their last league match. ONGC scored 308 for 9 in 50 overs. They were helped in their cause by a 44 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket between Rocky Ratta (38, 8x4s, 1×6) and Prashant Bhandari.
Prashant Bhandari was involved in another fruitful partnership of 66 runs for the 3rd wicket with Mayank Tehlan (33). Prashant Bhandari went on to carry his bat through the innings and in the process hit an unbeaten century 130 off 136 balls studded with 9 boundaries and 2 sixes. Gnaneswar Rao (3 for 54), Sunny Gupte (3 for 70) and Varun Khullar (2 for 52) were the main wicket takers for MRF.
Replying MRF scored 151 for 7 in 27.5 overs when a heavy down pour restricted the play and ONGC were declared winners by 94 runs through the D/L Method and got 5 points including a bonus while MRF got (-01).
MRF innings was embellished by a sizzling century (100) off 76 balls inclusive of 12 boundaries and four huge sixes by Jaskaran Singh Sohi. Waqar Ahmd (4 for 50) and Sumit Narwar (2 for 17) were the most successful bowlers for ONGC.
Despite this win ONGC made an exit from the tournament. Prashant Bhandari of ONGC was named man of the match.

At Govt. College ground in Ropar, CAG beat Air India by 7 wickets to garner 5 points while Air India got (-1). Winning the toss CAG opted to field and shot out Air India for 158 in 39.5 overs. Bipul Sharma (3 for 29), Jatinder Billa (2 for 45) and Vikas Chohan (2 for 37) did most of the damage for ONGC.
Abhimanyu (29), Ishan Ganda (30) and Shafiq Khan (27) were the principal run getters for Air India. Replying CAG knocked off the required runs in 23 overs. Their chase was led by a hard hitting century (100) off 80 balls inclusive of 16 boundaries and 2 sixes by Bhavesh Shetty who was involved in a 104 runs stand for the 3rd wicket with Punit Bisht (21 not out). For his brilliant century Bhavesh Shetty was named man of the match.
