28 Apr : The 26th Chandigarh (UT) Billiards and Snooker Championship entered in the third day with some close contests at Big SCF 15, IInd floor, Sector 22-D, Chandigarh.
It was a day for Rishab Dhamija who won his matches in Sub-Junior and Junior grops. In the Sub-Jr. Snooker semi-finals, Rishab Dhamija, of AKSIPS, Sector-41 Chandigarh keeping cool and showing good class beat Aseem in straight sets 2-0(50-45, 61-32). Rishab Dhamija a coming up youngster, made nice breaks of 16 and 15 to take away the first frame. Aseem showed resistance and covered lead with break of 17 and it was anybodies game till the last black ball. Dhamija potted the black to win the first frame. In the second frame Aseem missed simple pink and gave a good opening to Dhamija, from where he took a initial lead. Aseem covered the initial lead and at one stage both were almost neck to neck. With one red ball and colours on the table, Dhamija potted well and made a break of 16 points to take a lead and win the frame.
This youngster, Dhamija playing his Jr. Snooker showed good touch and class to beat Nartej in straight sets 2-0(48-46, 63-43).
In Sr. Snooker match Rahul Garg easily won over Vikram Narula 3-0 (54-48, 59-26, 60-44). The potter cueist Rahul was in control of the balls from the very first frame and played well. He came up with small breaks of 18, 21 and 19 in the frames and won easily against Narula. In another encounter Ajay Kumar easily won over Ankit Sharma 3-0 (69-39, 58-52, 59-47).
In the Sr. Billiards Subodh Lehri, a senior seasoned player was too good for Manav Dhawan and easily won 2-0(100-63, 100-83). In the first frame Lehri made small breaks but was consistent. In the 2nd, Lehri made a break of 27 and Rahul came back with 28. Both were in 80s when Lehri took away the frame with unfinished break of 21
In another Sr. Billiards match Mandeep Makkar outplayed Satnam 2-0(100-54, 100-66).
Makkar now plays Arif Akhtar of Indian Oil in the next round.
In the Junior Billiards Rishab Dhamija overpowered Ish Kaushil 2-0 (75-69, 75-31).
In the Junior Snooker Ish Kaushik managed to win over Lakshya Dhamija 2-1(61-47, 24-46, 64-49).
