Mukesh Kumar continued his dazzling form for Defending Champion CRPF Rohini, scoring two goals, one the match winner in a closely contested final to help his school down Sanskriti School, 3-2 and lift the title in the Delhi Region final of the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge under-14 all-India schools football tournament, played at the Ganga International School, Delhi on Tuesday.
It was Ajaymen Singh who gave Sanskriti School the lead in the 8th minute of first half, which was then equalized by Abhishek Kumar of CRPF in the 15th minute. However, the brilliance of Mukesh Kumar , helped CRPF to take the lead 2-1 in the 17th minute, but Siddarth Venugopal from Sanskriti School equalized on 27th minute.
In the second half, on 57th minute again star forward player Mukesh Kumar could not be thwarted for long and he got the match winner goal. He was later adjudged the ‘Player of Tournament’. The winners took home Rs 30,000, while the runner-up side and third placed winner won Rs 20,000 and 15,000 respectively.
The match to determine the third place saw another close match between St Columbus School and Modern School B.K. Road. St Columbus defeated Modern School 1-0.
Final Result: C.R.P.F Rohini 3 (Mukesh Kumar 2, Abhishek Kumar 1) bt Sanskriti School 2 (Ajaymen Singh 1, Siddarth Venugopal 1).
3rd place: St Columbus School bt Modern School B.K. Road 1-0.
