ABU DHABI, NOV 24 : Canada defeated Italy by five wickets with four balls to spare in their Group A match in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium here today. It was Canada’s second win from seven matches and were lying sixth with four points in eight-team Group A. Italy were occupying fifth spot with 5 points. They suffered their fourth defeat in seven matches. One of their matches was abandoned due to rain.
Batting first, Italy scored 104 for 6 in allotted 20 overs. Only Damian Crowley ( 61, 5x4s, 1×6) and Alessandro Bonora( 16) could reach the double figure mark. For Canada,Jermey Gordon 3 for 15) was the most successful bowler.
Propped up by fine knocks by Rizwn Cheema (34) and Jimmy Hansra (32), Canada easily achieved their victory target by scoring 105 for 5 in 19.2 overs. Gayashan Munasinghe got 3 for 18 for Italy.

Batting first, Namibia scored 125 for 7 in 20 overs .Sarel Burger (34) and Nicollas Scholtz (38, 3x4s, 1×6) were their main scorers. R van Schoor and Craig Williams contributed 11 runs each. Charles Waiswa got two wickets for 26 runs for Uganda.
In reply Uganda could score only 87 for 9 in 20 overs. Phillimon Selowa top scored with 35 (2x4s, 1×6).
Bernard Scholtz (3 for 18), LP van Westhuizen (3 for 12) and Louis Klazinga (2 for 15) restricted Uganda to 87 for 9.
Namibia registered their fourth win from seven encounters and were lying third with 8 points on better net run rate of +0.197. UAE also have 8 points with a net run rate of +0.188 but they have so far played six matches.
