CHANDIGARH, DEC 15 : Riding on the outstanding display by Ashray Bhardwaj who pumped in five goals in a row, Chandigarh outplayed Uttar Pradesh as they recorded a facile 5-1 victoryi n group B match of the Sub Junior National Football Championship for Coca Cola Cup-2014 being played at Sundernagar (H.P) today. It was Chandigarh’s second successive win as they had shocked Punjab in their opening match.
Chandigarh mounted pressire from the beginning and in the10 minute Ashray Bhardwaj put them ahead. He himself doubled the margin in the 15th minute and completed his three-in-a-row as he booted his third goal in the 22nd minute of the match.
Uttar Pradesh goalkeeper was shown red card for dangerous play in the 28th minute. Uttar Pradesh tried hard and Mohammad Saif reduced the margin by scoring in the 28th minute of the match.
Chandigarh were leading by 4-1 at half time
On resumption, the proceedings started at a fast pace. The U.P. boys was a good battle and tried to reduce the margin but all their efforts were thwarted. Chandigarh player Saksham was shown yellow card for dangerously kicking the opponent player in 47 minute. Again Ashray Bhardwaj of Chandigarh team scored in 48th and 59th minutes of the match.
HIMACHAL EDGE PAST DELHI: Hosts Himachal Pradesh secured full points at the expense of Delhi whom they beat by 2 -1 in group A match to taste their first victory. Delhi suffered their first defeat in two matches they have played so far.
Astik put Himachal Pradesh into the lead in the 22nd minute of the match. Harsha of Delhi neutralised the lead in the 35th minute. Sumit scored the match-winner for with a fine goal in the 40th minute.
PUNJAB BEAT JK: Punjab defeated Jammu & Kashmir by 4 – 1 in a group B outing for their first win.
Punjab were leading by 3 – 1 in the first session. Sandeep of Punjab scored in the 36th and 45th minutes. Sharik Balk from J&K scored in 35th minute. Taranjeet Singh of Punjab scored in the 41st minute to make it 3-1. In the second half Jagjeet of Punjab netted in the 51th minute to complete Punjab’s tally.
UTTRAKAHND HOLD HARYANA: In the fourth match of the day Haryana dropped a point as they were held 1-1 by Uttrakhand.
Uttrakhand took the lead in the 23rd minute through Anurag Chaudhary and and Jainchin of Haryana leveled the score in 74th minute of the match.
Four matches were played today as yesterday’s programme was washed out.
