Brilliant hundreds by AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla helped South Africa script a 231-run victory – the fourth-biggest in ICC Cricket World Cup history – over the Netherlands in its Group B match in Mohali on Thursday.
While Amla laid the foundation with a brilliant 113, de Villiers made 134 to help South Africa put up 351 for 5 off its 50 overs.
In its reply the Netherlands managed only 120. For South Africa the best bowlers were Imran Tahir, Jacques Kallis and Robin Peterson. The only batsman to offer any resistance was Wesley Barresi who top-scored with 44.
South Africa are now top of Group B, ahead of India, England, Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland and the Netherlands.
