Chandigarh, March 26 2008: The Pro-Am event of Professional Golf Tour of India’s (PGTI) Centurion Bank of Punjab Open Golf Championship 2008 provided amateur golfers from Chandigarh an opportunity to play alongside some of the top professional golfers in the country.The Pro-Am event was played on a team stableford format wherein the professional score was compulsory along with two best amateur scores out of three amateurs over 18 holes.The event was won by PGTI member A S Lehal’s team comprising of amateurs Mr. Rakesh Jolly, Mr. H S Bhullar and Mr. K Raghav Bhandari. Their team total was 121 points.
In second place was PGTI member Harmeet Kahlon’s team with 116 points. The three amateurs who made up Kahlon’s team were Mr. C S R Reddy, Mr. J S Grewal and Dr. Roshan Sunkaria.PGTI member Chiragh Kumar’s team comprising of Mr. A S Aulakh, Brigadier Punia and Mr. G S Jawanda finished second runners-up. Their team total was 112 points.The prizes for the closest shots to the pin were won by Mr. Avirat Sundra (9 feet – hole no. 3), Mr. Sanjay Talwar (15 feet 9 inches – hole no. 11) and Mr. Saurabh Mangat (4 feet 5 inches – hole no. 14).
The prize for the longest drive was bagged by Mr. Ashbeer Saini who came up with a 280 yard drive on hole no. 16.Col. Navekesh Singh won the contest for the straightest drive on hole no. 6. His drive was three and a half inches from the centre of the fairway.
