Dehradun : UK Ice skating team won 03 medals in VIII National Ice Skating Championship Shimla, H.P.”
It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that Uttarakhand State Ice Skating team won 03 medals in VIII National Ice Skating Championship organised on 02-01-2012 to 05-01-2012 at Shimla H.P. organized by Ice Skating Association of India. In which 550 Ice Skaters participated in long, short track races and figure skating events from Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Calcutta, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, J&K, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka etc.
International Skaters, Yati Gupta of SJA, Uttarakhand won bronze in short track 500 mtrs, Ashwin Raj gold in figure while Abhishek Bhandari of K.V.IMA won Bronze in Short track speed. Team coach, Mr Gulab Chaudhry informed that International skating Coach Mr Arvind Gupta nominated as ‘judge’ in the penal of figure skating and will take Indian team to Bangkok in the month of April for International skating championship. He conveyed thanks to Mr Praveen Krishan, the president of Uttarakhand Ice Skating Association for their kind visit to Shimla and for kind support to Brig.(Retd.) S S Patwal,the president of Winter Games Federation of India.
On the occasion Arvind Gupta congratulated participants and announced proudly that winners of short track races will take part in ‘ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Russia Championship’ in Moscow on 3 to 5 February 2012, and in Melbourne, Australia on 24 to 26 February, 2012.While winners of figure skating qualified for ‘VIIth Malaysian National Figure Championship’ to be organised on 17 & 18 February at Malaysia and on 6 to 11 March 2012 at Hague, Netherlands.
All officials of association also congratulated to winners and wish them for upcoming National and International events. Treasure, S Sen Sharma informed that skating training camp is being starting for Speed, Artistic, and Roller Hockey to take part in 49TH National Roller Skating Championship to be organized at Bangalore, Faridabad and Chandigarh by Roller Skating Federation of India.
