Chandigarh:There is tremendous trade potential that lies untapped between India and Slovenia, said Jozef Drofenik, Ambassador of Slovenia to India, hereon Wednesday.
He was answering queries during an interactive session organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “India has emerged a key strategic market. Energy, automotive, electronics and tourism are some of the focus sectors that offer scope for enhancing business relations between the two countries,” said the Slovenian Ambassador, who was accompanied by Maja Segota, first counsellor, trade and economic affairs.
RS Sachdeva, co-chairman of PHD’s Punjab Committee, said common goals can greatly boost business activities between India and the central European nation. “We can create the right environment to complement and supplement each other’s efforts to promote our respective economies. Emphasis ought to be made on devising ways and means for tapping these complementarities, and turning them to mutual advantage.” Given the potential and will to do business from both sides, the present two-way trade could reach new heights, added Sachdeva.
PHD Chamber regional director Dr Praveen Rathee said the chamber is always available to help the foreign missions to enhance business relations with India. “India’s sustained economic performance has created the basis for further development of bilateral trade relations with foreign countries. I hope India and Slovenia can leverage the evolving economic scenario to their advantage as the two nations can forge rewarding business partnerships and associations,” said Dr Rathee.
Slovenian envoy said that earlier acquiring a visa for Slovenia posed a problem but now with more visa facilitation services available in India, this issue has been resolved.
“Slovenia is an export-driven economy. Slovenian companies are highly reliable and efficient suppliers. Our top-notch companies offer quality products and services backed by knowledge,” said Maja Segato, Slovenia’s trade and economic affairs counselor, while giving a detailed presentation on the opportunities of investment and starting new business ventures in Slovenia.
