CHANDIGARH, OCT 11 : Former CLTA trainees Sanam Singh and Vijayant Malik of Haryana won the doubles title in the $ 15,000 ITF Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium in Houston (USA) today. In the doubles final, the Indian pair overcame a stiff resistance from fourth seeded pair of Evan King (USA) and Costin Paval (Romania) in two well-contested sets 7-6 (5), 6-4.
Earlier, second seeded Sanam Singh of India fought a tough battle before losing the first set in tie-breaker to Tyler Hochwalt (USA) in the singles quarter-final match.
Sanam fought on equal terms in the first set before going down in tie-breaker at 7-6 (3). owever, the Indian player had no answer to the Hochwalt’s strokes and serves as he meekly surrender the second set without winning even a single game (6-0).
