GOA, APRIL 21 : Minerva Academy FC U-15 boys asserted their power in the U-15 Youth League Final Round with a dominating 4-0 win over South Zone Champions Ozone Group Football Academy.
The match, played at the Navelim Ground, witnessed the young Minervans all guns blazing right from the first whistle. They took only two minutes to take the lead when striker Shubham Sarangi scored a gem of a goal to give the Rest of India Champions the much needed boost.
With the domination continuing, Jeckson Singh doubled the lead in the 20th minute when he curved in a free-kick few yards from outside the box.
The match went into the break with the Chandigarh side relived.
The resumption of the of play saw Minervan’s attacking in the same vein to kill the match. But the Ozone boys, who are technically supported by Dutch Football Association, KNVB, did some good defending to negate the Chandigarh boys.
But all hell broke loose within two minutes when Manvir Singh scored a brace in the 83rd and 85th minute to thwart any chance of the Bengalore’s side come back.
The Ozone group backed Academy registered a 4-1 win in their first match against Mumbai FC while the Minervan’s played out a 2-2 draw against Royal Wahingdoh.
The win today propelled Minerva to the top of the table of Group C with 4 points from two matches, making them close to qualifying for the semi finals.
They next play Mumbai FC on Saturday at the Navelim Ground in a 4:00 p.m kick-off.
