AMRITSAR, OCT 11 :After wandering in the woods for many years, Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) regained their lost glory in national sport when their team emerged champions in the Inter-College Hockey Championship, held at Guru Nanak Dev University campus. The College team scored first position in both the Men-A and Men-B category of the sport and 11 players from team were selected for the university’s team for upcoming Inter-University Championship, given their outstanding performance during the event.
Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia, honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh and Principal Dr.Daljit Singh honoured the team at the campus and Majithia announced Rs.3100 each for the players. Dr.Daljit Singh congratulated the team coach, Olympian Balwinder Singh Shammi, sports in charge Bachanpal Singh, Manager Maninder Singh and Prof.Amandeep Kaur and management for strengthening the sports infrastructure on the campus.
The College’s baseball team also got the top position in the Inter-College Baseball Championship held at GNDU and its seven players were selected for the varsity team for Inter-University tourney.
The hockey players selected for the University team included Ravisher Singh, Gurjant Singh, Harsahib Shammi, Manjinder Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Gurinder Singh, Amanbir Singh, Meharban Singh, Manpreet Singh, Gurinderbir Singh and Gurbir Singh.
The baseball players selected for the varsity team included Simarjit Singh, Harpreet Singh, Prithvi Singh Yadav, Gurpreet Singh, Ranbir Singh, Manjinder Singh and Ravinder Singh.
