Junior golfers from the city brought laurels in the Indian golf union’s national tour . The two tournaments which were the 8th and the 9th in the 2011 season ( A total of 11 tournaments to be played in the national circuit of 2011) were played at the Jaipur golf club (Rajasthan memorial) from 8th – 11th nov. and the other at the Tollygunge golf club , kolkata (Eastern India open) 15th – 18th Nov.
Karandeep singh kochhar won the Rajasthan memorial at the Jaipur golf club by a comfortable margin of seven strokes in the category C whereas Jaiveer singh of the same category took the 2nd runner’s up position . Another city girl vasundhara thiara also took the 1st runner’s up position in the category D (girls) in the same tournament. In the Eastern India at Kolkata Karandeep singh kochhar took the 1st runner up trophy in the C category . Jaiveer singh took the 2nd runner up in the same category . Another city lad Aadil bedi won in the category D in the same tournament. Karandeep and jaiveer are students of St. John’s high school and Aadil bedi is a student of Vivek high school. All of the above players are coaching under Mr . Jesse grewal of Chandigarh golf academy. The season’s last two tournaments are to be played in BPGC , Mumbai (western India open) from the 28th nov – 2nd dec and Army golf course dhaulakuan , Delhi (All India open) from 27th dec – 30th dec 2011.
