2 Oct : On a high this season with two titles, Jeev Milkha Singh will return to the Indian Open hoping to upstage Jyoti Randhawa for his maiden win at the USD one million Asian Tour event that tees off 9th October in New Delhi.
Other marquee names already confirmed for Indian Open, to be staged at the Delhi Golf Club, are Swede Daniel Chopra, New Zealand’s Mark Brown and last year’s number one ranked player Liang Wen-chong from China.
Jeev, who finished joint fifth in the British Masters at the weekend to move to number 58 in the world, has been in fine form this season with some solid finishes in the European Tour besides putting up commendable performances at the Majors.
Jeev played in the tournament last year finishing joint 13th. The result came during a season when he was not at the peak of his powers but this year he is back on track.
He won the Bank Austria Open on the European Tour and the Sega Sammy Cup in Japan.
The 36-year-old is currently ranked number two on the Asian Tour Order of Merit and is placed 10th in Europe.
However, it has been his performances in the Majors that have been most eye catching.
For the second year in a row, he made the cut in the US Masters and finished tied 25th while arguably his finest ever week since turning professional in 1993 came when he was placed tied for ninth in the US PGA Championship where he was the first round leader.DDINEWS
