Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Yoga Association (affiliated to Yoga Federation of India) and Government College of Yoga Education and Health is organising two days 34th Chandigarh State Yoga Sports Championship on 20th and 21st August 2018 in the main hall of college. The Association in its meeting ,Chaired by its chairman M K Virmani , also decided to hold an examination for state level referees on 19th August. Candidates having graduation degree from any recognised university with a diploma/ certificate in Yoga with a minimum duration of 6 months and having participated in at least once in State Level/ national level championship will be eligible for the examination. However the championship is open to all the residents of Chandigarh as well as all those studying/ working in Chandigarh for following age groups:-
Age group for both male and female 8-11, 11-14, 14-17, 17-21, 21-25, 25-35 & above 35 years.
It is expected that the number of competitors will exceed 500 this years as various schools and colleges have already confirmed their participation. The medal winners of the state championship in each groups will be eligible to participate in the 43rd National Yoga Sports Championship to be organised by Yoga Federation Of India from 18th to 22nd November 2018 at Patiala.
