Swati Rana, Student Reporter, The India Post, 17th January 2009 : Break Loose, the name first is one of its kind and when you get to know that it’s the name of an organization working in the field of indoor and outdoor education, it gets over your head. But the name is exactly what the organization stands for. Break Loose is an unconventional idea of providing practical education to students through means that have been barely tried. Dr. Anubhav, the Director of Break Loose, explain it like this, “Break Loose is an endeavor to break through all barriers which come in the way of a child’s complete mental and physical development’’.
Break Loose is a group of professionals from varied fields including doctors, engineers, psychologists, sociologists, scientists etc., all with a common goal in mind, and that of helping a child realize his hidden potential. In fact, the organization has attained much expertise by conducting indoor and outdoor personality development programmes for a number of schools and colleges of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. “Our focus during the programs is to make the participants realize and hone their potential which they are knowingly ignorant of’’, adds Dr. Anubhav.
Some times, despite knowing that they are good at something, certain individuals do not let it show. This is because even appreciation appears apprehensive to them. The upbringing of a child has an important role to play in this. The indoor programmes that Break Loose offers help in developing qualities like self esteem, motivation, self confidence etc. all of which are right there in an individual but, at times, need special force from outside to come to action. Dr. Anubhav goes on explaining, “take for instance an activity known as Trust fall. It helps you to restore the lost faith in your peers and people close to you.’’ The organization also conducts activities to make students well equipped to face the professional world like practice sessions on interview skills, group discussions, etiquettes & mannerism, grooming and dressing etc.
The outdoor adventure camps have been designed in such a manner so that the child gets to reinvent himself. All activities, right from tent pitching to shooting, help a child learn how he/she can keep moving ahead in life overcoming all obstacles. And it’s not just about learning self improvement skills but also about ability to work in a team and about how to make tough times conducive. The outdoor camps give a child some moments away from the hassles of city life in the serene environment of Mother Nature. And no other place can be better to learn the basics of living a good life than the lap of nature.
The organization through all these activities makes an effort to make a child a wholesome individual, one who is set to face anything more confidently and who is ready to help others in hard times. The organization rightly justifies its motto: to inculcate in each child the qualities of courage, confidence and character. Break Loose: no stopping ahead.
