Chandigarh. It seems that the temples in the city are no longer safe under the harsh policies of the UT Administration. The same consequences are being witnessed by the thirty year old temple Geeta Bhawan situated in Sector 52, which is being targeted by the administration under its demolition drive.
Despite caring about the feelings of the thousands of people associated to Geeta Bhawan, administration is trying its hard to acquire the land and demolish this huge temple in order to build a park in this area. This process was actually started by the UT administration about seven years back but it was stopped n between due to revolt by the temple trust and religious groups in the city.
Talking to the media persons about the ruthless behavior of the Administration, Mahant Sri Mukundraj Ji who is also the member of Mahant Shri Murarimal Baba Trust and Head of Geeta Bhawan, said, the temple was started about thirty years back and presently we area also running an Oldage home in the temple premises where we have about forty old aged people.
‘Not only hindus but many sikh and muslim followers are also associated with Geeta Bhawan as the main endeavor is to spread the preachings of Lord Krishna in Bhagwat Geeta. Also on regular basis religious functions are being performed in Geeta Bhawan without harming the interest or feelings of any individual’, claimed Mahant ji.
He also told that in a year we organize about eight to ten meditation camps along with Yoga camps also in Geeta Bhawan during which we also teach Bhagwat Geeta shlokas. It is very painful that UT Administartion is considering this termple a mere building but it is noteworthy that it is the only building where on the walls of the temple we have inscribed the entire sholkas in the Bhagwat Geeta, he lamented.
It is not only a building but a temple with which the feeling of lakhs of followers is attached and the Administration is planning to demolish this temple without caring about the feelings of the masses.
The trust came to know from its sources that the Administration has written the letter to the Police department to provide protection as it is planning to
demolish the temple building in order to acquire the land of Geeta Bhawan, told Mahant ji.
He further added that if UT Administration takes this harsh step against Geeta Bhawan then the associated followers would come on roads and agitate against administration’ action. We would also not lack behind in taking the support of other Religious Hindu Associations in the city. Not only would this in the forthcoming MC elections the followers of Geeta Bhawan not support the canditates who are at present helping the UT administration in this entire proceeding. Mahantji also informed that on this entire issue the temple trust had already given the Memorandum to the Governor of Punjab and Haryana and Adminstartor, Chandigarh, Sri Shivraj Patil.
