The Sant Nirankari Mission organized a mass wedding function today at the same venue. As many as 136 couples tied their nuptial knot. The Head of the Mission, Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj blessed the couples. The simple ceremony began with traditional Jaymala. Thereafter each couple wore a common garland offered to them on behalf of the Mission as a special symbol of their unity and equality. This was followed by Nirankari Lawan recited musically by a group of singers of the Mission. His Holiness, his holy mother Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji and his gracious spouse Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji showered the flowers on the couples during Lawan. The ceremony, however, concluded with the blessings from His Holiness.
The newly weds included 64 brides and 68 bridegrooms from Mumbai, 67 brides and 62 bridegrooms from other parts of Maharashtra and 5 brides and 6 bridegrooms from outside the State. Besides Mumbai, the families that participated in the ceremony came from Ulhasnagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Nashik and Chiplun. The families from outside Maharashtra came from Gujarat, Madya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
Going by their educational qualifications, several brides and bridegrooms have passed their MPhil, MA BEd., MBA, MCA, Automobile Engineering, Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering besides, graduation and post graduation of course. Two bridegrooms are physically handicapped. Interestingly, caste is no consideration in Nirankari weddings.
Blessing the couples and their families, His Holiness congratulated them for opting the simple ceremony. Some of them had to wait for months for this auspicious day. It’s not that they could not afford pomp and show usually associated with the marriage ceremony; it is because of their faith and devotion that they are all here. Many of them have come from far flung areas of Maharashtra and other parts of the country. Baba Ji said that bound by the common cord of spiritual knowledge, these families were already one but today they have established their social relationship also. All the brides and bridegrooms have generally received Brahm Gyan. They have been attending congregations and thus already taught the art of living by saints. Let them continue to live life based on divine virtues including love, compassion, cooperation, tolerance, goodwill and understanding. Any relationship based on spiritual awakening is bound to get strengthened day by day, Baba Ji said. He advised the couples to attend holy congregations and remember God all the time while fulfilling their family responsibilities.
While a large number of devotees of the Mission attended the ceremony, the lunch was organized for the families participating in the Mass Wedding Ceremony were arranged on behalf of the Sant Nirankari Mandal’s local branch.
