By Asif Iqbal Naik , Kishtwar May 22: Veteran politicians and senior Samajvadi Party leader Sheikh Abdul Rehman today threaten agitation over delay in granting Hill Development Status to Chenab region on the pattern of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council. Mr. Rehman is presently on tour of Kishtwar District to gather the support for hill development council.
He said that both National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party has back tracked from his party manifesto in which both the parties promises to the people of Chenab region for extending the supporting to the demand. He said that Omar Abdullah government has failed to deliver at public front and forget all his promises made by him with the people of state. He said that sitting MLA’s of Chenab region are against the move of granting hill development council for Chenab region. He said that with the formation of hill developmental council, the elected representatives are in fare of losing power which they enjoyed while ruling on poor and downtrodden people of one of the most backward area of the state which not only lacks development, but also lacks far behind on education front, connectivity, health and communication. He said that despite being hilly area, the successive government fails to grant hill development council status to Chenab region. He said that recent elections of UP proves that National Parties like Congress are losing its ground against local parties and warns the NC and PDP of similar results in case both the state parties fail to deliver as per the expectation of the people.
He said that ruling party is also creating hurdle in empowering the panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he will take up the matter of grating hill development council with SP Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. He said that he will urge Mr. Yadav to take up the matter with Prime Minster of India. He said that recent development in central politics has indicated the emerging of federal front comprises of BJD, AIDMK, TMC and SP in near future.
