So what has the Incumbent done – in the last decade plus?
1. Got a grossly over-billed FOUNTAIN made? @ Rs. 65 lakhs – for a concrete slab 4” th. and measuring around 35’ x 50’ ( approx 18 – 20 cum @ Rs. 3500/- per cum) with a 2.5 ft. high brick wall (425 sft single brick th. @ Rs. 100/- per sft. max.) Add to it 15-20 GIPs with nozzles @ Rs. 2000/- each – so where have the remaining Rs 63 lakhs spent on? A few 3 HP pumps and lights? And a computerized console to drive those pumps!
2. Got another white elephant waterfall made which hardly ever works! And costing you a ridiculously inflated price! Do you know where it is? Not the money, but the waterfall!
3. Got 6.5 fancy gates made which are a disaster – and redundant! In fact, they have NEVER been used, and no advantage has been gained by anybody – except the contractor & his partners! Are there non-existent chowkidars being paid to man those gates @ 3 shifts/day? If so, where is their salary going?
4. What else? Paver blocks? AND THAT IS ABOUT ALL OF IT!
Allowing the Mafia that is ripping off perfectly good paving and replacing them with paver blocks all over the city – @ prices more than granite tiles! In fact some kids had put a case against this blatant practice in the High Court. The Councillor’s concurrence is needed for the tendering! The officers tell me in plain words that they have the sanction when I object. Look around you to see the damage done! No more GREENS! And goodbye to rain water seeping in to recharge the subsoil, and welcome flooding! Forget about the rake –off!
Is the incumbent responsible for the ROUTINE MAINTENANCE of the sector – such as cleaning & sweeping with approx. 200 sweepers allotted to the Ward (which is Sector 15 itself – with none in the PUC or the PGI or the PEC campuses)? In whose houses are these ghost safai karamcharis working? Conversely, where is their salary (upto Rs. 15,500/- per month) going?
5. Now what about solving –
The parking problem.
The water pressure problem.
The encroachment problem.
The problems in the messed up booth market.
The routine maintenance of the open spaces and green belts.
The unplanned growth and mushrooming tenants and guest houses! Leading to massive overcrowding, congestion and over-pricing of rents, and property as well. Your old neighborhood is changing rapidly – for the worse! What with builders and developers moving in!
The flood of part-time vendors who are squatting all over the place. Is there a street vendor policy? Security from unknown vendors and salesmen? And serial robberies – like the ones in Panchkula last night! How safe are your kids from the goondas ruling the roost? Also try the Sec 8 market for your evening delights! And remorse!
Ever been to the Night Food Street for a similar beautiful experience?
Have you ever had a voice in decision making? Or giving lucrative contracts? Of re-carpeting, or re-paving, or re-building, or re-employing contractual staff, or…………?
DO YOU KNOW/HAVE ACCESS TO THE MCC COMPLAINTS CENTER? Any RESPONSE EVER?
Can you put in an application for anything within hours – if not minutes, or seconds? In any govt. office in the city? It takes days and weeks now – if not months!
Will you get a response from an official, or a Municipal worker? How much energy, and money – goes into getting a routine complaint attended to, or solved?
Why can we not have officials at your service….not you at their mercy! We shall organize regular Janta Darbars with concerned officials in sectors initially – till the online system becomes smooth and easy!
All projects shall be marked on an interactive map – using GIS and MIS systems.
Is there any democracy, or involvement in Local Governance, or is it for the high and mighty ONLY – such as a nominee of a National Political Party?
Who does your Councilor report to – the High Command, or you? What is the system? How does it work?
WHY THIS MASSIVE ELECTION TAMASHA & MAROMAR FOR A SALARY OF RS. 5000/- PER MONTH? Totalling Rs. 3 lakhs in FIVE long years! How much have your candidates spent in the last ten days? The basics are wrong – something fishy there!
Only somebody who knows how to milk the system tries hard to get in – at any cost!
Corruption is built into the SYSTEM! IT HAS BEEN DESIGNED THAT WAY!
What will happen to the social fabric in a village if political parties come in and divide the village on political lines – and breed permanent ENEMITY amongst neighbours!
Remember MIRCHPUR, and a thousand others – all because someone wants some votes! To become what – the Choudhury, or the local Boss – so that you can suck up to him/her? And the Boss can suck out the funds – as part of a well oiled system! More than 7 out of every 10 Indians lives (what a life?) in Villages! Do we want to bring in enmity amongst them – for some political gain? Or build up the system of divide to rule!
Political parties have no right to come into communities and divide them up – in fact local elections should not even be fought under the Representation of People’s Act. Kindly check out the law for yourselves!
Aren’t you abdicating your responsibility to your motherland, and your families and your children’s future by surrendering to the CORRUPT system – where liquor, cash, and now ghee and rations, besides plain threats, are used to GET YOUR VOTE? I have met plenty of people in the Ward who are petrified of someone seeing them with me – or informing the local don!
As a concerned citizen, do not go on individual gains but think of your ward, city as a whole. The City is already beautiful, it needs regular maintenance and care, and it does not need editing and formatting – or especially “DEVELOPMENT” by untrained and unprofessional Councillors! There are urban planners & other professionals for that!
It needs a new honest, efficient, transparent, accountable, responsive, simple, moral and working system based on ICT and concomitant EDP/ERP or SAP systems that modern corporate work culture necessitates!
God Bless India, and our City Beautiful.
