Chandigarh, April 4 Punjab Congress spokesman & former Minister Mr. Jagmohan Singh Kang in a statement, here today, expressed gratitude to the UPA Government for sanctioning Rs. 189.67 crores worth of projects for augmenting sewerage and drinking water supply facilities in six towns (Bathinda, Jalandhar,
Majitha, Malout, Zirakpur, Pathankot) of the state under urban infrastructure Development scheme. Mr. Kang said that so called allegation of SAD-BJP Government about step motherly treatment to the state by center had been negated by generous allocation of funds for different projects in the state, for which rather Punjab Government should be thankful. He said that UPA Government under leadership of UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi & Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had earlier sanctioned Rs. 183 crores for development of Talwandi Sabo and Anandpur Sahib as part of tercentenary celebrations of Guru-ta-Gaddi at Nanded Sahib. He added that besides International Airport at Chandigarh, Bathinda oil refinery, historic debt relief to farmers and holistic development of Attari, many more projects were forthcoming with the active support of central government without any discrimination. Mr. Kang urged the Govt. to contribute state share on priority in different schemes in order to avail optimal benefit of central assistance schemes. He also complimented the UPA Govt. for extending National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) to all districts of India on the initiative of AICC General Secretary Mr. Rahul Gandhi, MP.
