CHANDIGARH, March 25: Apropos the news story being circulated by the Press Trust of India today, wrongly quoting the Congress Legislative Party chief and the Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Ms Rajinder Kaur Bhattal having said, “it was a mistake to boycott the debate on budget”.
Ms Bhattal in a statement reiterated her party’s stand that the budget was fraud and the figures in it were fudged. She said, the entire party stood by what the PCC President Capt Amarinder Singh spoke on the budget in the assembly. “There is no question of my saying it was a mistake”, she clarified.“It was a conscientious decision of the party to boycott the debate on budget and there were no two opinions about that”, she said, while adding, Capt Amarinder spoke for the party and not just for himself in the assembly.
The former Chief Minister said, it is a matter of record in the assembly whatever she said, while pointing out, quoting someone wrongly amounts to the breach of privileges.
