Taking a dig at Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Nitin Gadkari said that the country needs a strong PM to tackle the problems of corruption, terrorism and naxalism. Shri Gadkari was addressing the Mahasangram Rally held at Beniabagh Park in Varanasi on April 18. He urged the people to defeat the Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party, if they wanted to make the country and state free from corruption. “Can the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi explain how the 2G Spectrum, ISRO Devas and Common Wealth Game scams took place, and who will give the answer,” Shri Gadkari asked.Even small countries like Chile and Peru have amended their laws to bring the black money deposited in Swiss Bank back, he said, and added, “But, it is shameful that the PM is stating that disclosing the names of people who have deposited over Rs 22 lakh crores in foreign banks was not good in ‘public interest’.” He also alleged that the Congress knows it very well that if the names of people involved in looting the common man’s money to deposit in foreign banks is exposed, its future would be in doldrums.
Targeting the PM on cricket diplomacy with Pakistan, the BJP president said, “Pakistan is continuing a proxy war and its role in Mumbai attacks has also been exposed. But, the PM is dreaming of a India-Pakistan Cricket series. We are not against this series, but, before expressing this desire, the PM should ask Pakistan to stop aiding and abetting terrorism in India.” Commenting on the political scene in UP, Shri Gadkari said that it is unfortunate that the caste-based politics in UP had been playing a key role in bringing BSP and SP in power, while the need of the hour is to find immediate remedy against the problems like poverty, unemployment and starvation.
