Chandigarh : Hara Punjab Khara Samaj (an NGO) in collaboration with Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes Celebrated ‘Green Christmas Day’ with traditional fervor and gaiety at Sector 8-C, Chandigarh on Thursday. The celebrations commenced with the singing of Christmas carols by staff members to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. Santa Claus distributed sweets and chocolates among Public.
In his message to the public, Dr. Zora Singh urged people to remember the martyrdom of Lord Jesus and follow the path preached by him for a happy peaceful world. Mrs.Tajinder Kaur, CEO, Hara Punjab Khara Samaj said, “People should pray and work for bringing peace and harmony in making a terror-free world”.
On this occasion a plastic free drive was launched by ‘Hara Punjab Khara Samaj’ to keep the surroundings free of plastic Bags here. Mr. Krishan Pal Singh, In charge of Horticulture Division, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was Chief Guest. Staff members collected the plastic bags scattered all over in the area of sector 8-c market with the residents and the members of market association also supported the efforts of the organization in making the plastic bags free area. While speaking on the occasion Mr. Krishan Pal Singh highlighted that landscape of the city is in sync with the environment. He said, “The green cover of the city beautiful is to be maintaining by planting large numbers of trees”.
Mrs. Tajinder Kaur said, “The main objective of the exercise was to bring awareness among the residents alike on keeping the environment clean and avoiding littering of the area. Mr. HC Gera, Executive officer, Doctor Z-India explained about ill effect of the use of plastic bags. It chocks the sewerage line and creates unhygienic conditions by blocking the man-hole By shunning the plastic out we can have better environment.
