Uttrakahand CM Ramesh Pokhariyal ‘Nishank’ has said that Tehri lake in the state would be developed for holding world’s biggest water games ever and Rs five crore has been earmarked for this purpose.
“We have decided to develop Tehri lake for holding world’s biggest water games. The state government has earmarked Rs five crore for the purpose,” Nishak said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Lucknow on Sunday.
Highligting his government’s achievement, Nishank said that holding of the Mahakumbh 2010 has attracted the attention of the University of Chicago, where top professors would study how the mega Indian fair was managed “so successfully.”About wildlife and river Ganga, he said his government has roped in celebrities like India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and actress Hema Malini to create awareness and soon the government would launch unique tourism packages, aimed at marketing the state among the foreigners.
Nishak also supported Anna Hazare’s demand for inclusion of the Prime Minister under the ambit of the Lokpal, but avoided to comment on the charges against yoga guru Ramdev’s aide Balkrishna.
