A day after Uttarakhand govt ordered a CB-CID probe into the “mysterious” death of Swami Nigamanand, Governor Margaret Alva has called for an independent inquiry to ascertain the real situation.
Expressing concern over the reports in print and electronic media and various organisations regarding the death of the Swami, Alva said an independent probe should be instituted to ascertain the real situation and do away all suspicions, a release from Raj Bhavan said on Wednesday.The Governor has also expressed grief over Swami’s death. Swami died in a hospital near Dehra Dun on 13th June.
36-year-old Swami Nigamanand of Haridwar-based Matri Sadan ashram had begun his indefinite fast on 19th February demanding immediate stopping of quarrying in Ganga and shifting of Himalaya stone crusher elsewhere from Kumbh area.
Though the post-mortem report of Swami Nigamanand has stated coma, septicaemia and degenerative brain disorder as the cause of the death, the founder head of Matri Sadan and Guru of Nigamanand, Swami Shivanand has alleged that his death was caused due to poison which was given to the seer during treatment at the behest of quarrying mafia.
