By Lalit Tewari , November 16 : Chief Minister Major General (Retd.) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri listened to problems and grievances of the general public at the ‘Janata Milan’ programme organised at the new Chief Minister’s Residence on Cantt. Road here, on Wednesday, and gave directions to the officials concerned for their resolution. He said that the state government is quick to respond to the common man’s problems.
The Chief Minister expressed his concern at the rising number of applicants from Dehradun at the Janata Milan, and directed the District Magistrate Dehradun to help resolve the problems pending at his level and only those issues that for certain reasons require the attention at the Government-level, should be referred to the Government.
He said that this would enable timely resolution of the problems and grievances of the people, and also save their time and money. He said that arrangements are being made to ensure that people’s work is executed naturally as per the procedure within a specified time frame.
During the Janata Milan programme, the Chief Minister issued orders on telephone to the Himalayan Hospital to operationalise dialysis free of cost for a poor girl student. The one hour long programme saw at least one thousand people putting their problems before the Chief Minister who gave a patient hearing to their woes.
In response to demand for financial assistance for medical treatment, the Chief Minister asked the applicant to enclose all medical prescription documents so that the cheque could be sent directly to the Hospital. In response to another application for transfer, the Chief Minister said that already a Transfer Act is in place according to which the process would take place on its own in a transparent manner.
The Chief Minister directed all applicants who brought district level issues to approach the District Magistrate first. He also directed District Magistrate Dehradun to be present at the Janata Milan programme. Shopkeepers who were displaced due to road widening activity at the Tehsil Chowk here submitted a memorandum at which the Chief Minister sought a report on the matter from the concerned department.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s office has said that persons coming for the Janata Milan programme should ensure their entry latest by 9:45 am.
