By Rajiv Kumar Agarwal, Citizen Journalist : Request and Wake-up call to Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam – citizens captured photos of damaged roads Condition of road connecting 2 National Highways (NH-24 and 58) is very bad. There are very bad patches on this road, with huge pit holes filled with dust. A picture speaks more than a thousand words. We the residents of the area believe it too. We are concerned over the deteriorating condition of city’s roads — responsible for causing innumerable traffic snarls. We the residents of Kavi Nagar are sending few photographs of some damaged stretches to convey the need for urgent repair.
The bumpy ride starts as soon as one crosses the ALT Rail over bridge from NH-58 side. The worst comes further down towards Razapur Over bridge. This road is between Kavi Nagar and Shastri Nagar, one of the most populated and posh areas of Ghaziabad. Broken roads and heavy vehicles have made life hell for residents of Kavi Nagar and Shastri Nagar. Heavy vehicles, long distance buses and trucks ply on this road round the clock because of the construction of over bridge at Dasna Railway Crossing. Due to movement of heavy vehicles road has broken up making commuting very difficult. The two wheelers are at high risk at night. Residents are facing problem of Noise, Pollution and Dust due to this broken road. Dust related problems and diseases (Bronchitis) are adding to the misery of the residents of this area.
This is due apathetic attitude of to Nagar Nigam, Ghaziabad over the problems). Complaints by Kavi Nagar residents have fallen on deaf ears. Nagar Nigam, Ghaziabad has not done any thing in the past three months. (Only when C.M. was to make surprise visit 3 months ago work was done overnight.) This is an important stretch of road as it connects NH-24 with NH-58 with dozens of other roads in the area. The road needs dense patching/ carpeting as it is riddled with potholes. This road is an important link between Delhi, U.P; Bihar, West Bengal and north east. A large number of inter-state vehicles coming from Nepal, Lucknow, Moradabad, Rampur Bareilly and Uttarakhand take this Road on way to Delhi. The quality of the road affects the smoothness and speed at which traffic moves. Damaged roads have compound congestion, cause accidents, decrease motor vehicles life and increase consumption of petrol & diesel. Safety of users is another major concern.
This stretches on this road has innumerable pot and pit holes. It is in a pathetic condition. It is causing hindrance in the normal flow of traffic generating noise and dust with a possibility of serious accidents on these stretches. This road require to be repaired on an urgent basis.
